Participants and leaders from a multinational manufacturing company came together to strengthen AI capabilities, improve workflows, and build a shared vision for innovation and growth.
As AI continues to reshape industries, organizations are increasingly focused on how to move from exploration to implementation. Success depends not only on technology, but also on alignment between the teams developing solutions and the leaders responsible for guiding transformation.
To support this journey, professionals and leaders participated in two complementary capability-building programmes: Cohort 48 AI Hackathon and Cohort 49 Leading the AI Enabled Enterprise. Together, these initiatives helped create a common understanding of how AI can be applied to improve operations, support better decision making, and enable sustainable business growth.
Turning Ideas into Action
The journey began with Cohort 48 AI Hackathon, a structured two-week programme designed to help participants explore how AI and automation could address operational challenges.
The programme started with four half-day AI training sessions, providing teams with a foundation in AI concepts, tools, and applications. Participants then worked in cross-functional teams to tackle business challenges, supported by technical trainers, mentors, coaches, and regular stakeholder engagement.
Throughout the two weeks, teams focused on opportunities to:
- Reduce time spent on repetitive processes
- Improve access to information and knowledge
- Strengthen workflow efficiency and consistency
- Enhance decision making through data and automation
Daily check-ins, coaching sessions, and stakeholder feedback helped teams maintain momentum while refining their ideas into practical solutions.
The hackathon culminated in a final capstone presentation, where teams presented AI solutions designed to address operational priorities. More importantly, the process gave participants hands-on experience evaluating opportunities, testing ideas, and understanding where AI can create meaningful value within the business.
Building Clarity for Leadership
As participants explored and tested new ideas, Cohort 49 Leading the AI Enabled Enterprise brought leaders together for a focused two-day programme on AI strategy, adoption, and organizational readiness.
The programme explored a question many organizations face today: everyone agrees AI matters, but what does successful adoption actually look like?
Through discussions and practical examples, leaders examined how AI can support business priorities, improve service delivery, and strengthen operational performance. The focus extended beyond technology to include workflows, governance, decision making, and people capability.
Key areas included:
- AI readiness and organizational maturity
- Business alignment and investment priorities
- Governance and responsible adoption
- Workflow redesign and operational impact
- Human and AI collaboration
The programme encouraged leaders to look beyond individual tools and focus on the underlying business challenges that AI can help solve. This helped build greater clarity around where investments should be prioritized and how initiatives can be evaluated for long-term value.
Connecting Strategy and Execution
A key strength of combining both programmes was the opportunity to create alignment between those developing solutions and those responsible for scaling them.
During the hackathon, participants explored opportunities, tested concepts, and developed solutions to business challenges. At the same time, leaders gained the perspective needed to evaluate these initiatives through the lens of business value, operational feasibility, governance, and long-term sustainability.
This created a shared language around:
- Operational efficiency
- Process improvement
- Data informed decision making
- Innovation and business value
- Adoption and scalability
- Future workforce capability
The journey reflected three important elements of successful transformation: building clarity around business priorities, enabling concept testing through practical experimentation, and creating continuity between innovation efforts and long-term organizational goals.
Supporting the Future of Manufacturing
Manufacturing organizations continue to explore new ways to improve efficiency, strengthen resilience, and unlock greater value from technology and data.
The combined impact of Cohorts 48 and 49 demonstrates the importance of developing capability at every level of the organization. The two-week hackathon enabled teams to explore opportunities and develop practical solutions, while the two-day leadership programme equipped decision makers with the knowledge and perspective needed to guide adoption.
Together, these experiences helped establish a stronger foundation for AI across the organization, connecting ideas with execution and innovation with strategy.
As organizations continue investing in AI, success will increasingly depend on bringing teams and leaders together around a common vision. With greater clarity, structured concept testing, and continuity between experimentation and implementation, organizations are better positioned to translate new ideas into lasting business impact.
